Let’s Beat Bowel Cancer Ambassador Dr Sally Cockburn was awarded the accolade following an episode on bowel cancer on her regular radio program “Talking Health” (Melbourne Radio 3AW).

The Colorectal Surgical Society of Australia and New Zealand (CSSANZ) offers an annual Media Prize for the best media segment (published article, television or radio commentary, or multimedia format) judged by the Media and Public Relations Committee of the CSSANZ to provide the best information to patients.

The award aims to recognise the important role the media can play in raising public awareness of the spectrum of colorectal disease, and the impact these conditions can have on patients.

The Prize consists of a commemorative plaque and a cash award ($1000) from the CSSANZ.

Coinciding with Bowel Cancer Awareness Month, Dr Cockburn’s program highlighted bowel cancer prevention and interviewed both Professor Adrian Polglase (Patron & Founder, Let’s Beat Bowel Cancer) and Geoff ‘Coxy’ Cox (Ambassador, Let’s Beat Bowel Cancer) during the informative show.

The CSSANZ judges felt that the content of this radio program was outstanding in terms of the information covered and the practical advice given to listeners.  Congratulations Sally!
