One hundred keen golf players turned out to attend the 6th annual Let’s Beat Bowel Cancer Golf Classic at Kingston Heath Golf Club. The day was a huge success, with a record turn out – and raising a record $150,000!
Among the players were some famous faces including tennis champions and LBBC Ambassadors John Fitzgerald & Todd Woodbridge. Hey, Hey it’s Saturday’s Daryl Somers banged the gong to start the tee off.
According to Let’s Beat Bowel Cancer Chairman, Emeritus Professor Adrian Polglase, the golf events have raised over $650,000 for cancer research, education and prevention programs to date - and is well on the way to achieving the “$1 million in 10 years” fundraising target.
“The Golf Classic offers corporate groups a unique opportunity to play at a world-class golf course and support Let’s Beat Bowel Cancer in it’s mission to save lives.” Professor Polglase said.
The day included “beat the pro” & “hole in one” competitions as well as an on-course BBQ & refreshments to keep players entertained. This most successful event concluded with a fundraising auction and a call for “pledges” which enable Let’s Beat Bowel Cancer to promote their integrated media campaigns via TV, radio and other high profile media – spreading the word to more people, more often and saving many more lives!
Funds raised from the Golf Classic will go towards bowel cancer research as well as conducting public awareness campaigns.
“Let’s Beat Bowel Cancer appreciates the support of its valued sponsors, suppliers & players for their fantastic support of this event.” Professor Polglase said.
